Isaiah chapter 24 speaks of universal judgment upon the earth, when the Lord will shake creation and all human arrogance will be humbled. Even in the middle of that devastation, verse 15 calls the peoples to glorify the Lord, including in the farthest places. The phrase glorify the Lord in the fires suggests praise in the midst of trial and judgment. Not even disaster removes God's right to be worshiped, for he is the king of glory. Worship in the middle of suffering is a powerful testimony of trust. Today we are invited to recognize God's rule and to praise him even when we do not understand his ways.
