Isaiah chapter 23 announces the fall of Tyre, the Phoenician city famous for commerce and wealth. Despite the destruction, the chapter ends with a surprising note: Tyre's income will one day be consecrated to the Lord. The trade that was used for self-sufficiency will come to serve those who dwell before God. This shows that God can redeem even the economic structures most tied to greed. When wealth is given to the Lord, it stops being an idol and becomes an instrument of blessing. Today we are challenged to examine what we do with the money we earn. True prosperity is the kind that serves God and others.
