Explanation

Chapter 5 records the Sermon on the Mount, with the Beatitudes and the foundational teachings of the Kingdom. Jesus compares his disciples to light, saying that good deeds must be visible. The intention is not to draw attention to ourselves, but to point to God and give him glory. Light only fulfills its role when it illuminates those around it. In our daily life, every act of kindness, justice and love can reflect the Father's character. We live so that others, seeing our works, may also glorify God.
